Electronic Engineer: Instrument Hardware and Firmware Development

TOFWERK is seeking an electronic engineer to develop hardware and firmware for the control and operation of our time-of-flight mass spectrometers. The successful applicant will work within our Electronic R&D Team in support of several instrument product teams. The electronic engineer will work closely with the product and R&D team members to develop new hardware and define specifications. He/she will be in charge of the design, implementation, and industrialization of the new hardware/firmware. Based on his/her knowledge of the field and use of TOFWERK technology, the electronic engineer will provide suggestions and feedback to the R&D Department regarding potential short- and long-term product improvements and developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analog and digital electronic circuit design, including: simulation, design, prototype tests, firmware development, integration of circuits in existing designs, and assistance in testing circuits in existing devices
  • Revision of existing components with regard to engineer standards (CE and EMC) and additional functionality
  • Support of the industrialization of circuits
  • Assistance and support of other team members
  • Occasional support of diagnostics and repair of customer equipment (Issue-Tracking)

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience

  • Master’s degree in electronic engineering or comparable education
  • Expertise in development of analog and digital circuits (Simulation, Design, Prototyping)
  • Extensive experience in firmware development
  • Fluency in English or German
  • Independent, well-structured and goal-oriented working style

Desirable Experience and Expertise

  • Basic Proficiency in English or German
  • Experience using Altium Designer
