TOFWERK is seeking a full-time full-stack software engineer to strengthen our team developing control and acquisition software for our time-of-flight mass spectrometers. The successful applicant will combine their experience and knowledge of Python, JavaScript and C++/C# together with their excellent communication skills to support instrument teams in development and deployment of a modular server-client framework capable of rapid adaptation to meet the tailored requirements of a diverse set of stakeholders and customers.

The position will demand a complete understanding of the instrument software stack from JS-based clients down to the low-level electronics firmware and the successful applicant with demonstrate not only fluency in the required languages, but also sufficient experience working across the full-stack to be able to handle a steep learning curve with complex instrumentation.

The successful applicant will work in tandem with other software team members in software development and testing, with the R&D department in processing algorithm implementation and with the production department and product teams in support of software deployment, configuration and testing. They will use their in-depth knowledge of the full software stack to offer high-level product support to the Service and Support department.

Based on their knowledge of the field and use of TOFWERK technology, they will provide suggestions and feedback regarding potential short- and long-term product improvements and developments.

The successful applicant should expect an initial month of training at TOFWERK’s US office in Boulder, Colorado; travel is otherwise not an intrinsic part of the role.

  • Masters level degree in the sciences
  • Fluency in Python & JS
  • Basic knowledge of C++ and/or C#
  • Structured and systematic approach to code development
  • Fluency in English

Desirable Experience and Expertise

  • Relevant software engineering tradeschool qualification
  • Experience using Agile development principles, particularly Kanban
  • Experience working as part of an international team across multiple time zones
  • Fluency in German
