They are used in various industries, from catalysts to fuel cells. But as these nanoparticles find their way into our waterways, it is essential to understand their potential impact on aquatic life. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presented study conducted by researchers at the <a href=\"https:\/\/orbit.dtu.dk\/en\/organisations\/department-of-environmental-and-resource-engineering\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Technical University of Denmark<\/a> \uadf8\ub9ac\uace0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tofwerk.com\/ko\/\">TOFWERK<\/a> delves into this specific question, focusing on the interaction between CeO<sub>2<\/sub> NPs and green algae (<em>Raphidocelis subcapitata<\/em>). In this study, algae was exposed to different concentrations of CeO<sub>2<\/sub> NPs, including levels relevant to natural water environments. Subsequently, using the technique of single-particle ICP-MS, the interaction between the NPs and the algae could be tracked and investigated. Here the high sensitivity of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tofwerk.com\/ko\/products\/icptof\/\">icpTOF S2<\/a> was of particular advantage and the full simultaneous multi-element detection capability allowed the capture of a full and comprehensive picture of the association NPs-cell.
