There is a growing interest in quantitative analysis of nanoparticles (NPs) in complex environmental and biological media. Single particle-(sp)-ICP-MS provides an easy way to determine both size and number concentration of inorganic nanoparticles at very low levels. Nanoparticles analyzed by ICP produce extremely short signals, with total duration on the order of hundreds of microseconds. Detection and quantification of multiple elements in a single particle requires a mass spectrometer that is fast and which simultaneously measures the elements of interest, such as the TOFWERK icpTOF.
This poster – which was presented by Martin Tanner of TOFWERK at the 2016 Winter Conference on Plasma Spectrochemistry – discusses recent applications of the icpTOF for nanoparticle analysis.
