To better understand the complexity of cell populations, the need for precise, cell-to-cell analysis is essential. In this innovative study conducted by researchers from the University of Oviedo at BAM in Germany, metal nanoclusters (AuNCs, PtNCs, and IrNCs) are employed to simultaneously determine three cytosolic proteins in retinal pigment epithelial cells (ARPE-19). Here the benefits of simultaneous multi-element detections provided by the icpTOF are key as they enable multiplexed analysis. The methodology, involving immunocytochemistry with metal-tagged antibodies, opens new avenues for exploring protein expression in neurodegenerative diseases under varying conditions. Â
